The Open Fabric of a New Digital Fashion Movement | Calling All Web3 Fashion Designers

The fashion industry as we experience it today is closed, exploitative, predatory, unsustainable, studio dominant and wildly profitable…. for a select few. The way it is, this system is bullshit.

If you are an independent designer, an independent digital fashion designer or someone that wants to bridge fashion into a web3 enabled metaverse, how do you do it?

There’s no support system, no clear roadmap, and, a lot of the supposed NFT web3 projects out there are more a brand than an actual infrastructure builder or service provider for indie digital fashion designers + ecosystem participants.

This is why DIGITALAX was established. To change this. To build an operating system for creators to pursue their craft in a way where they can count on the work they are doing actually moving them, and others, forward in the industry and their lives.

We started by first market testing and proving out each of the core components within our ecosystem. And now, we are at the stage of being able to truly empower a Global Open Meta Network for Digital Fashion Designers as part of Layer One of the operating system.

Using NFTs as the primary distribution channel, we initiated and built out since November 2020 the concept of Fractional Garment Ownership (FGO).

For many, they didn’t realise, and probably still don’t, just how powerful that concept is, and, why we did it.

FGO enables a truly open source, decentralised and streamlined framework for scaling the entire fashion supply chain across the digital and physical realms. In order to unleash a fully realised creative economy the latency between the desire to enter the market, having the tools and access necessary to succeed, and, realising that success in a truly distributed fashion, must be miniaturised.

How we do this, through Fractional Garment Ownership, is scaling everything down to the most modular level— the patterns, materials and textures. And then, backing these by transparent on-chain authentication and far more flexible means of trade and exchange than has ever existed in the traditional fashion industry. Because while mechanisms for trade of every last little component of the fashion supply chain has worked really well for the big players, it’s never been accessible to all. And, ultimately, it is in the interests of everyone in fashion, from the individual aspiring fashion designer in their bedroom using CLO3D to the Guccis and Pradas of the world, to radically increase the size of the market and how much profit potential there is within it by opening up points of entry and capacity to engage fully in decentralised commerce, driven by ubiquitous digital fashion and cross digital-physical realms.

DIGITALAX introduced the first on-chain ERC-1155 NFT open source material, pattern and texture libraries to the set the stage for a future where any designer can openly contribute and use these base building blocks of fashion. This allows them to transparently track on-chain the usage of their contribution in master garments and then receive cross-realm royalties for a new modular monetisation model under open licensing. It’s about removing gatekeepers from every chokepoint in the current industry.

The patterns, materials, texture NFTs streamline monetisation, licensing and rarity definition between Digi-Fizzy.

We first proved this concept out with our Genesis Issuance with Charli Cohen in March where a digital pattern was minted on-chain and open sourced into the DIGITALAX libraries.

We are now taking the next step forward for this by scaling up our Global Designer Network.

We are calling all designers, creators, artists, and anyone who has a love of fashion to join us on this mission. We will be initiating mass on-boarding support for all designers under our Network into crypto, NFTs, web3 and digital fashion.

How does it work?

  1. Join our discord or reach out directly on our instagram DMs and tell us that you are interested!
  2. And then from there we’ll introduce you to a new community dedicated to people like you.
  3. This whole community is coming together to each issue a digital pattern, material, texture component and open source this into the on-chain libraries. Every person will be supported in setting up a crypto wallet where they initiate the minting process themselves through our infrastructure, ensuring your creativity is stamped on history immutably.
  4. These patterns will then be featured as part of a special meta-story that we are releasing in the next issue of DIGIFIZZY, our Metaverse Magazine + they will have their first application and usage as the next collection of the DIGITALAX DRIP fashion line— all contributors will receive modular royalties, proving out this first cross-realm digital-physical licensing and monetisation model.
  5. You are joining a revolution with us. This is just the beginning as we continue to grow out this decentralised autonomous community as the core focus for bridging, enabling and empowering creators for the Metaverse.

The future of fashion, digital and physical, is open source, transparent and composable through the supply chain. NFTs enable this streamlined distribution.

Using the patterns, materials, textures as this threadline ensures that digital garments are not limited by their physical counterparts. Digital Fashion is not confined by physics, and therefore, “copying” a physical fashion item directly into its exact digital counterpart isn’t scalable. It’s not how you build our a globally open digital-physical “metaverse ready” fashion supply chain. The modular material components ensure the interoperability. This is where we start. And, the barrier to entry is more efficient, anyone for the mission can join.
